Some say they like predictability, but I choose the other.

I prefer to be unpredictable. I do not like my choices second-guessed. I do not like to be read easily. I do not like to be taken for granted. However, I love to pamper and go the extra mile for the people around me. So long as you have earned my trust and respect in you, I will give you my best. Some say I'm unpredictable, some say it's hard to believe I can be nice to others without any agenda. Why is this so hard to believe? Platonic relationships form a big part of my life. We are all friends with one another. Friendships are hard to form, and even harder to sustain. I've often been let down by friends, and it's no wonder that I've developed a defense mechanism, not sharing much, compartmentalizing myself. Very often, most people see only a side of me, yet thinking they've seen all. I will share, but if I believe you're sincere in the friendship and not merely lip-servicing. I will give my all to you if I feel you reciprocating and when I'm headlog in a relationship -- be it friendship or anything -- you will feel the full-fledges of it without any expectation for return except for the shared bond.

When I was young, I've questioned myself often enough to wonder if this need to be different is merely a rebellious streak in me. Through the years I've grown, this character trait has stayed. Now I know I'm just different.

Why should I be the same as everyone else? Why should I want the same things in life? Why should I chart the same milestones as everyone else?

I lead my life as a nomad at times. I appreciate solitude. I appreciate the peace and quietness of nothing and noone around me. I make my own decisions and lead my life the way I want. I'm glad I come from a family where we are given all the space to make our decisions. Growing up on my own has taught me the thought processes to think through decision-making processes, the courage to make a decision and live through it, and the ability to make split-second decisions with the consequences having already been considered. I always believe I chart my own life and I'm entitled to all the differences I want, so long as I do not regret anything.

Perhaps you can say I'm "emo". But I would rather say I'm reminiscing. I'm glad I've never regretted anything in life. If I were to die now, I would have no regrets. All my life, I have given my best at everything I do. I do everything with fervour, with passion, with the belief that everything and everyone deserves nothing less.

Per my tattoo on my ankle -- Persevere to the end. I'm not a quitter, and I won't be, until I'm utterly and irrevocably disappointed.

Went for my physio as usual today, for my back. Been having once or twice weekly physio ever since late Nov 2008. Today was a little deviation from the usual treatment.

Dr Chin finally incorporated gym work to strengthen the core muscles. But I felt damn silly

I had to sit and balance myself on a stability ball. Then, with my core muscles tight, I have to take turns lifting my left and right leg off the ground, and straighten them if possible. No doubt slow, it was ok when I lifted my left leg up. Felt pretty much in control.

But the moment i attempted to lift my right leg off the ground, i rolled off the ball. And even if I don't, my torso was twisted in my attempt to counter-balance, which means I'm not engaging my core muscles enough, or they're just plain weak.

It was downright embarrassing. I finally understood how stroke patients feel when they suddenly realise they can't use an arm or leg or control their mouth muscles. I literally had no control over my left core muscle. She felt it was ok when we tested it in the treatment room, but as soon as it's put to test in gym, I think I failed marvellously. :(

I literally rolled off the ball as soon as my physio let go of me whom she was supporting when I got into position. What the hell ....

So, my right ankle is loose, certified loose. My ligament torn, and I'm gonna do my MRI on Monday to determine how bad is the tear. And apparently I'll have to be in a cast for 12-16 weeks if I do go for surgery.

And my left core muscle is weak, hence that's why the left side of my back muscle is always injured/torn and achy.

What an awkward combination isn't it?

i read how they advertise the contiki beach netball - "sizzling, sexy times on the beach"
i note the insertion of new rule at the VERY LAST MINUTE - "garments worn under these tops must not protrude more than 1 inch below the bottom of the ladies cropped top"
i follow the news on My Paper - "we understand that not all players would be comfortable with this, and they would decide if they should play"
i also digest what was circulated - "we respect all religious sensitivities hence Muslim participants can wear a long-sleeved top beneath the cropped tops together with a tudong and pants in line with the Singapore Sports Council's advice"

as much as i dun feel comfortable to expose my belly, i felt that we, singaporeans were a joke!!

I heard the Contiki beach netball promo on radio yesterday and this morning -- boy ... they sure are hyping this up quite a bit.

A few of us are involved, so will the rest please come support us? We're forced to "mai shen" ... boo hoo hoo ... so we'll need all the support we can get.

training last nite

only 2 cats and 5 kittens turned up for training last nite after a stormy weather.. yilinnocent was so excited abt her barbie doll asics shoes :-) and we gals gave KS 101% of all our attention... high-ball, side-stretch, bounce-ball!! i am sure he loves them all!!! dun you, butt?? :-)

also, i came to realize that each and everyone of us certainly has a unique, copyrighted playing stunt:-)

yilinnocent wld glide and do a small and unnoticable, subtle back-kick but she admits that she dun think she can beat peiru's legacy of back-kicking IN THE AIR!!! and for me, my head wld drop to one side whenever the ball that i feed, go nowhere ("that puzzled look!!" junjia exclaimed.. hehehe... i didnt know that) and yes, junjia!!! when she contests, the ball will somehow land on top of her head and she will "LEFT, RIGHT, LEFT, DOWN, RIGHT, TOP "where is the ball????" "

(give me the ball lei, i really contested for it just now, i just dun know where it landed)

New Life- Busy Life- No Life??

Before work goes out of hand, I better steal some precious time that I have left to update and blog.

Have started work at new PR agency situated at Club Street. Food is good there, except I have to worry bout' eating alone cos I have no colleagues to eat with. My two Caucasian bosses are nice, but I don't expect to eat with them too often. I guess will have to pester Peiqiao and Delia (My 2 good friends) to lunch with me hehehe....they are like 10min walk away!

Work is going to be hectic, to say the least. I can almost see myself trying to stay afloat in a few weeks' time....hope things will get better in time to come. I really hope this job will work out and perhaps grow my career with this agency. Fingers crossed.

One of the perks of working here is that I'll get to travel. Exciting trip to HK coming up real soon this Sat. I'll be there shopping over the weekend and then go for an induction training in the HK headquarters on Monday. I'll be back in Spore on Tues night. Was hoping to get Wed morning off work but it seems they desperately need me in office by Wed morning...boo! Gonna be so tired.

My first work trip abroad, alone. Hope everything goes well. I know my parents and Eric are gonna freak out over here in S'pore worrying about my safety.

Too bad I can't catch Eric in action for the NSL opening match on Sat. Not sure if he will be umpiring the opening match but Zenith peeps, please be there to take my place and support him!! keke...

aching feet and body

no need netball, my feet and body also ache like crazy- all the walking with full loads in business class is crazy work and my feet are really sore, many bruises to my fingers/hands due to jammed trolleys, jammed cart doors etc.... not to mention the jetlag and the freezing weather :-( 2 more sectors before back to mumbai.....

nevertheless belgium is truly romantic and beautiful, including the boutique hotel that we are staying in... i shall bring back some infamous leonida choco for all this sat :-)

Wednesday sucks in office

I want to complainnn!!!
My Wednesday suuuuccccck BIG TIME.

It was initially a relaxing day where I wouldn't have to rush through my things. Then 230, kena called in my this Black-boss to go in and help him with a stupid list. I had to develop like 80 over profiles; don't want to be too specific, incase somehow somewhere people chance upon this entry. Hey but wait, nobody hav access to this except ourselves right?

Soo, I had to do it. I worked on the very same document. For each profile, I had to access many websites just to complete 1 profile. How frustrating, time consuming and texing on the eyes you know. You can imagine my mood. PLUS, my goal was to leave the office at 6pm, at least 615pm. In the end I had to work on that document and you know what time I left? 715pm!

Urrrrgggggh* I wanted to go home to jog, in the end when I reached home, I was so tired, din want to go jogging anymore.

athletes and our gripe --- INJURIES

hmmm .... i don't remember having majorly injured myself before except for that knee injury 3-4 yrs back that had me rest for a few months....that time, i had to hobble up and down steps, 2 feet on 1 step at a time, i felt really handicapped. cannot use a squatting toilet, or else i can never get up. remember i had to push myself off the floor once when i didn't know the extent how weak the knees were. wanna sit on the floor will mean me squatting as low as possible, and then landing on the ground on my butt with a THUD cos even that height is still too high and there's no way for me to bend my knees somemore. cannot run, not even with guard.

for the first time in my life, i understood how it feels to have weak knees for old people. but of late, i'm getting old i think.

therapist says my ankles are loose and asked if i've injured them before. sprain a bit here and there in the past, yes, but somehow i'm getting the "effects" now. been 2 weeks since the major sprain and it still hurts to wear heels. still kinda stiff when i attempt to rotate it. not very successful at that. without my ankle brace, they are super fragile too.

now, my back hurts from the slightest weight i carry. carrying a shopping cart on CNY eve shopping for mommy was painful. couldn't stand up straight. either very straight (which is detrimental) or i gotta kick the cart with my feet. sucky.... it stiffens up after every game/training/workout. running for an hour is tops it can bear. after that it hurts too much to even jog. it's been months of physio and it's still not really healing. i know, i know .... never rest enough right? but how to ......? miss 1 training already miss so much. and i dun wanna get fat from NOT having any exercise at all .... arghhhhh

and oh, everything aside, there's this major stress while mgmt decides on 2009 budget. and from my last conversation with the boss, this is what it's looking to happen:
No budget = nothing to do at work;
Nothing to do at work = no need for Ms Gingerlyn;
No need for Ms Gingerlyn = getting laid off .......

our FIRST acting class, it was, last nite.... just cant get those images out of my head - black cinderalla!!!!!!!!!!!!! hehehehe... how she took the many chances to ride on me, the pumpkin carriage and the handsome glances tt cinderalla's prince (her besdy) casted on cinderalla... gorgeous certainly didnt suck at acting, at least not the role as wicked stepmother and i love my second role as cinderalla's stepsis2...WICKED WICKED WICKED!! kekekeke IT WAS A HILARIOUS NITE!! we certainly need to act out romeo and juliet soon!!! What a day, when i'm 'internationally connected'

Yesterday was an 'unlucky' day.

In that afternoon, I called my school mate and she picked up, initially I was excited to tell her my exam results that were just released. But I became worried when she said (in mandarin), in less than half a second, "I'm in Thailand!" And she hung up almost immediately.

At night after training, my conscience told me to start doing something as a Tournament Coordinator. Hence, I sms-ed KS to ask for the contact list and contact no of all zenithians and he replied, "... ... I'm now in Malaysia."

Next, because I wanted to be more responsible, I sms-ed Jul, our new Quarter Mistress, to inform her that I've kept a set of (washed) yellow bibs in the ball bag... ... no reply from her... ... Then, suddenly I remembered jul is on vacation and my 1st reaction was "where? Thailand? Malaysia?" I hope it's Malaysia, international call/sms bill is cheaper than calling to Thailand i guess. My 2nd reaction was "Serve u right. who ask u to be so K-po?!"

So... ... Let's see how much I'll have to pay for my phone bill nxt mth... ...Seriously, I've no idea at all... ...

It was all fun and action today at our homeground. 12 teams. Wow! The turnout was fantastic. Everyone pitched in to help. Most were on time. The young ones were happy selling the food and drinks, and I think the team bonded too. The young ones have gotten bold enough to "suan" us already ---- i take it as a very good sign indeed!

I'm sure we have lessons to learn from today ... let's reflect in the next training/AGM on how we can make the 3rd one next year an even better success than this year's!

Jo and I had good fun playing water frisbee; alan had a good workout from fanning the charcoal (he got so red); eric was a very attentive bartender; juliana was the ever so lovely and sweet hostess; siti was scaaaary as her motisha (is this how u spell) impersonator; the rest of us were just eating and eating and eating ....

We went upstairs to Jul and Alan's house and took the opportunity to go for a dry swim. Called it an early night for some for us....guess the day just took its toll on us.

But overall it was still good fun!

We are the CHAMPIONS of the PWC Mixed League!

The last match was a bit of a disappointment since we got to play only 2 quarters and was interrupted umpteen times by a very-concerned-someone who called for a 5-min break whenever a lightning struck.

Do any of you feel our flow was kinda disrupted or were you glad for the "break where we could gather and discuss strategy?

I'm glad in a way, that the unplanned breaks provided Eric the opportunity to tell us how to improve our play, both as a team and individually. I'm hoping to put all that into practise myself.

I thought learning to play in the rain is also a good thing for us. Forcing us to learn to do more short passes/front cuts. I guess when we're "stuck" in a certain situation, it forces us to learn something faster. Not that I'm asking for us to play in the rain again......

The other one was the interesting, fiery flirting between Peiru and Nigel.

As Peiru was graciously flying through the air after a swift pass from Eric, she saw the nimble and opportunistic Nigel burning his puffing defender behind and dashing into the circle to set up for a potential shot.

She said to herself, this is the chance! With one smooth balanced land and trademark catch-and-circle-around with the ball, she threw the ball at the busy setting up Nigel. But alas, it was a one-way admiration and taking of chances - he wasn't looking at her. So, the ball conveniently missed him while Peiru helplessly watched the ball flew out of the court at the goal line.

"*Beep* NYP's throw in." commanded the umpire, KS in cold tone.

At this exact moment, Peiru who was overwelmed by trashed hope, exclamined "Kan wo!! (Look at me!)"

While the equally crushed Nigel quick returned, "NI, yao kan wo!! (YOU look at me!)"

The crowd roared with laughter. Thus, the moment survived to speak of a love-hate story between the two. However, not to worry, they're still living happily after... only separately.

It's 2 matches into the PWC Mixed League. We've beaten Safsa (28-21) and yesterday, NZCC Tuatara (54-12). It's been good and fun so far, all thanks to our loyal supporters, players, and coach!

Personally it's upsetting to myself that (of all times) I have to be down with the flu and cough at this point in time, but I try to play my best.

2 more matches to go, 1 against Net4all and 1 against NZCC Kiwi.

Ha! Finally, the "board" agreed to pass the "bill" of having a Zenith blog. :)

I was telling Jo today, that zenith came by at a very appropriate time of my life. When I was down in my personal life, when netball with PA was rubbish, I was offered the opportunity to join zenith.

It was a pleasant surprise to me to realise zenithians are such friendly people, despite seeing the "fierce" side of zenith when PA used to play against zenith in NL.

It was even better when I found out how "structured" zenith is --- with a proper committee and coach and trainings -- and I realised it's finally a place I can improve my netball skills on, and maybe form some valuable friendships.

It's been a great few months with zenith, everyone's been lovely. No doubt there were times when it wasn't so uplifting, selected few have been very encouraging and supportive.

I look forward to spending many more yrs with zenith!
